"Very many wish to be vouchsafed the Kingdom without labors, without struggles, without sweat; but this is impossible"—St. Macarius of Egypt

Spiritual Warfare

The Knights of St. Mary believe that we are living in a time of great spiritual peril and satanic power in the world.  The Blessed Mother of God calls us to join Her in fighting demons through prayer, invoking the aid of the saints and angels, using the sign of the cross and various sacramentals to defeat the evil one, and engaging in the unseen arena of the spiritual combat.

Learn how to use sacramentals like scapulars, holy water, blessed salt, medals such as the St. Benedict and Miraculous Medal, chaplets, the Agnus Dei, etc.  The devil hates these old and pious devotions because they are powerful aids to prayer and protection from evil; they increase faith and destroy his power on earth.

Prayer

Prayer is the foundation of our life and spiritual formation.  This includes the observation of morning and evening prayers, intercessory prayer, praying for one another and the Church, prayers of healing, deliverance and spiritual warfare.

Prayer may be both simple and spontaneous as well as taking other forms including the saying of daily offices such as Matins and Vespers, nighttime prayer, novenas and the Rosary.

The Knights of St. Mary has a special devotion to praying for the poor souls in purgatory, who in turn pray for us and become our allies in the spiritual warfare against Satan and his angels.

Keeping Catholic Traditions

"Where there is no knowledge of the soul, there is no good: and he that is hasty with his feet shall stumble." (Proverbs 19:2)

Observing old traditions, customs and celebrations of the holy Catholic Church.

Following the path of the Saints; studying their lives, writings and spiritual counsels.  Did you know that you can invoke through prayer the assistance of St. Anthony in finding lost articles?  Or that one of the oldest devotions in the Church is to the Fourteen Holy Helpers?

Nourishing our spiritual life with the Holy Mass or Divine Liturgy, prayer and frequent reception of the sacraments.

Reading and meditating upon the Holy Bible and other good spiritual books.

Eucharistic Adoration.

Preserving and sharing old traditional prayers and beloved devotions, many of which are in danger of being lost and forgotten.

Pilgrimage

"Who are these that fly as clouds ... Whither the impulse of the Spirit as to go, there they went" (Isaiah 60:8; Ezekiel 1:12)

Pilgrimage, the lost art of spiritual traveling, whether near or far.  Visiting shrines, churches and monasteries, places of miracles, healings and holy apparitions; seeking words of wisdom and guidance from priests, monastics, hermits and living saints.

Local Chapters

Forming local Chapters for prayer, unseen warfare against the powers of darkness, study, good works and fellowship.
